Coquille or be Killed! is an art show and book being organized by Ezra Haidet and Zach Nelligan from Triple Crown Tattoo Parlour in Austin, TX. The project showcases the talents of over 250 different tattoo artists from around the world, all on the substrate of coquille board. The show and book will debut at the Star of Texas Tattoo Art Revival in Austin on January 15th, 2010. The book will be a limited edition of 500 hardbound copies, each with a hand silk screened image on the inside of the cover. After opening in Austin, selected works from the project will travel to various shops and galleries throughout the year.

Coney Island Freddie tattoo flash and the First West Texas Tattoo Convention

Posted in news with tags , , , , , , , on 01/08/2010 by Matt Van Cura

I recently came across a ton of old flash colored by Coney Island Freddie.  I’ll be displaying them and tattooing the images at the  First West Texas Tattoo Convention (Feb 19-21).  This  particular sheet was featured in the book  “Tattooing New York City: Style and Continuity in a Changing Art Form” by Michael McCabe, and is  just the tip of the iceberg.  There are some real quality gems in the stack which I hope to do for years to come.

Here’s the flyer for the tattoo show.
